Cooperative game prototype
Root Relay
Your partner changes the past. You deal with what is left in the future.
Root Relay puts two players in the same place, separated by time. Planting a seed in the past can grow a bridge in the future; moving it can grow the power source needed elsewhere.
The future player has a useful trick: anchor one object so it survives the next change. The puzzle is in deciding what to preserve, then coordinating the route through both eras.
A little chain of dependencies
Grow the bridge, cross it, anchor it, then move the seed to power. The engine tracks the shared state and each player’s available actions, with room codes and a common event history on the server.
The sequence in the figure was checked against the actual engine. The current retained build is the engine and server; its browser client still needs to be restored.
Under the hood
Separate past and future roles with shared room state and role-specific actions.
A root bridge, a living battery and a temporal anchor that can preserve a changed object.
A cooperative route puzzle, room codes, session tokens and a shared event history.
The game logic makes the premise concrete: plant a seed in the past to change the future, preserve one relic while changing another dependency, then coordinate the final route. The engine and server are present; the browser client still needs finishing.
